Chicago, IL, Fans Believe Chicago Sports Is Building Something Special

Posted on July 28, 2026July 28, 2026 by Greg Ford

A recent social media post is making the rounds among Chicago sports fans, and the debate it sparked says a lot about where the city’s fan base stands heading into the second half of this decade.

The original post laid out a bold case: that between the Bears, Bulls, White Sox and Blackhawks, Chicago has quietly assembled a young core capable of competing for years to come.

A Young Core Across Four Franchises

The post pointed to Bears quarterback Caleb Williams as a potential top-five talent at his position, alongside rookie standout Colston Loveland, who one commenter was quick to credit by name after the post appeared to mix him up with another player.

On the baseball side, fans highlighted Kentwan Murakami’s rookie season with the White Sox and the promise of top pick Cholowsky working his way through the farm system.

Pete Crow-Armstrong, referred to affectionately as PCA, also drew praise as an early MVP candidate heading into his third season, though one commenter joked in the replies that a photo of him looked more like Astros infielder Alex Bregman up close.

The Blackhawks weren’t left out either, with Connor Bedard once again described as a generational piece for the franchise. Meanwhile, Bulls fans jumped into the comments to make sure Matas Buzelis and Josh Giddey got their due mention as part of the city’s young talent wave.

Fans Split Between Hope and Doubt

Not everyone in the comment section was convinced, though. Several fans pushed back on the optimism, with one simply writing that Chicago teams “will find a way to screw it up,” a sentiment that plenty of longtime supporters know all too well after decades of near misses and rebuilding stretches across multiple franchises.

Another commenter questioned the top five quarterback claim outright, poking fun at the idea with a skeptical reaction rather than agreement.

Still, the thread reflects a growing sense among fans that Chicago’s four major franchises are trending in the same direction at the same time, something that hasn’t happened in years. Whether it’s football, basketball, baseball or hockey, the city appears to be banking on a wave of young talent to eventually translate into playoff runs and, fans hope, a championship.

The real question, as one commenter put it, isn’t whether the talent is there. It’s which of these teams manages to break through first.
